The North Carolina basketball landscape is constantly changing. There are plenty of incoming players who view this area as a place to get recruited and receive proper attention for their abilities. In the same vein, players depart from the Hoopstate due to the excess of talent—not from a fear standpoint, but rather that they can be a star elsewhere. Well, that’s exactly what seems to be the case with Darrius Davis. Formerly at Moravian Prep, Davis decided to make his move to Potter’s House (FL) prior to the start of the season. While many were disappointed to see his exit, Davis has been nothing short of spectacular for the Lions.
It’s although circumstances have largely determined the entire path for Davis, since his abilities have never been in question. Always an impressive defender, he’s a strong, tough, athletic guard prospect with excellent abilities in transition and as a penetrator. Davis is more than capable of hitting perimeter shots, both off the catch and bounce, and does a great job of setting up others when tasked with running a team. He’s a strong rebounder and consistently shows a willingness to do the dirty work on both ends of the floor. Davis has a great motor and displays phenomenal understanding of how to overwhelm multiple positions as a versatile defender.
Currently, Davis holds offers from La Salle, Rhode Island, and DePaul, which is somewhat bizarre given his reputation and production over the last few years. Take his time at Moravian for example, Davis consistently found ways to be an impact player without needing to be the focal point offensively. He can outwork opponents, adapt to various roles, and possesses the necessary physical qualities to succeed at the next level. Whichever program nets Davis will be getting a very useful piece.
