
After a thrilling Game 1 that went into overtime, it was time for Combine Academy and The Burlington School to get under action. Two big-time programs with new head coaches were kicking off the season in a big way in a hostile environment. Combine Academy came out strong behind one of their big-time stars in 2024 Trentyn Flowers, a 6’9 prospect that can be a complete mismatch on the floor with his game. It helped Combine build an early double-digit lead but The Burlington School was able to chip away a little before the first quarter, with Combine leading 15-9. In the second quarter, the outside shots started falling from three for The Burlington School, as they were able to regain the lead and teams started to trade baskets. The Burlington School was able to capitalize from the outside, as well as creating havoc on defense, as TBS was able to maintain their lead into halftime 31-28.
The second half got underway as both teams continued to make plays on both ends of the floor. Combine came out strong and started to find more of a rhythm offensively, but The Burlington School wasn’t going away, as Combine held a 48-42 lead after three. With TBS cutting into the lead right before the end of the third quarter, Combine once again came out strong and quickly pushed their lead to double digits three minutes into the fourth. Combine’s second-half performance was strong on both ends, as it helped them battle through and get a 69-52 victory at the end.
