We have been talking about Smith for a few years now. The 6’5” first opened our eyes due to his strong build and crazy explosive game. Each year since, Smith has continued to develop his game, and develop his IQ. Last season he led his Garner High School team to the North Carolina 4A Public School state title.

This year, he transferred to Legacy Charter (Greeneville, South Carolina). Over the weekend, Smith played in the Phenom National Showcase. There he showed the game has slowed down, his ball skills are coming around, and he still has the highest level explosion.

This weekend, Smith committed to Longwood University. Smith joins his long time AAU team mate Juan Munoz in the Big South program. Smith will be used as a highly athletic wing who defends the perimeter and plays high above the rim.

Smith has come to numerous Phenom events through the years. Let’s see what we said:

2013 Phenom High School Jamboree
6’4” Sophomore Jashaun Smith – Smith showed a calm and cool game on the offensive end. Very smooth into his shot knocking down step up mid-range jump shots and getting all the way to the rim. On defense, Smith defended off the ball and in the post equally well. Very explosive athlete who the game seems to be slowing down for.

2015 Phenom Open Gym Tour
The Athletes – There is no question this team has elite athletes on the wing. The point guards here will have a lot of fun throwing the ball toward the rim and letting these guys go get it. 6’5” Senior Jashaun Smith carries an explosive 40” vertical. When he gets downhill, he can put his head on the rim. Smith carries offers from Longwood, Toledo, Norfolk St, NC A&T, and Alcorn St.
