Player: Kelvin “Pop” Anderson
Class: 2028
Height: 6’2
School: Petersburg

Many rankings have been released for the Class of 2028, and one of the top guards to look at is 2028 6’2 Kelvin Anderson from Petersburg HS. Anderson popped early on when Phenom Hoops watched him, as he displayed with his play, athleticism, and impact early on back in 2024.

“Though he is still young and there is still development left in his game that is needed, Anderson is one that I believe D1 schools should be looking at and monitoring when it comes to progress. He holds early offers already, but watching him this season, this is a young point guard who checks off a lot of boxes. At 6’2, he has a terrific blend of athleticism, playmaking, quickness, and size that allows him to be such a strong playmaker.  He will still have to work on some areas of his game, but again, we are talking about a freshman producing early on. Don’t wait too long for him.” – Patrick O’Brien in 2024

Anderson, who is ranked as a Top-40 prospect by 247Sports, continues to build and develop as a prospect, looking to add more to his game and thrive as a physical, athletic guard.

We wanted to catch up with the talented guard to check in on the latest, to learn how the season has gone, and a little bit about his recruitment. Check out what he had to say.

Season and Development:

“I’m doing well, and the season has been going well. I’ve been just trying to prep for the postseason at this time. But the season has been good overall; we have learned a lot together through the ups and downs, and I’ve definitely grown as a player. I’ve been working on my long-range 3-ball and my finishing more specifically.”

Recruitment Update:

Right now, he holds some strong offers from schools like FIU, Oklahoma State, Old Dominion, La Salle, Mississippi State, East Carolina, Norfolk State and Penn State.

“They just like the way I play hard and make good decisions as a guard,” Anderson said.

Though he doesn’t know exactly who else has been showing strong interest in his way as of right now, there are schools that he is looking/wanting to visit, along with a dream school in mind.

“I definitely want to visit schools like Mississippi State, Oklahoma State, Penn State, and Louisville,” he replied. “As far as a dream school though, North Carolina has been my dream school.”
