Last week, Phenom Hoops traveled to Winston-Salem Christian to get an up-close look at the Lions — a program loaded with talent across every position. The roster features a deep collection of college-level prospects, each capable of contributing at various tiers of collegiate basketball.
With their combination of athleticism, depth, and commitment to preparation, Winston-Salem Christian has the makeup of a team capable of earning a national ranking this season.
Bradley Floyd – 6’5″ | Class of 2026 | Winston-Salem Christian
One of the most versatile prospects in North Carolina’s 2026 class, Bradley Floyd continues to impress with his all-around impact. At 6’5″, Floyd brings length, athleticism, and a good basketball IQ that allows him to seamlessly contribute across multiple positions.
What makes Floyd stand out isn’t his scoring ability — it’s the fact that he doesn’t need the ball in his hands to affect the game. He thrives as a defender, capable of guarding 1 through 4, using his combination of strength, quickness, and instincts to disrupt opponents.
It’s honestly surprising that more programs aren’t knocking on his door. Floyd can be highly productive at the next level.
Elton James – 6’7” | Class of 2026 | Winston-Salem Christian
Elton James continues to impress with his combination of size, skill, and feel for the game. At 6’7″, he makes the game look effortless at times and continues to play with a lot of confidence.
Physically, James looks stronger and more balanced than before. The work in the weight room is evident. That development has made him a potential mismatch problem for opposing defenses.
Despite his clear upside, his recruitment hasn’t yet reflected his potential. Programs looking for a skilled, versatile forward could find tremendous value in James.
Josiah Johnson Freeman – 6’4” | Class of 2027 | Winston-Salem Christian
Josiah Johnson Freeman is a true Swiss Army knife for the Lions — a versatile guard who impacts the game on both ends of the floor. He possesses the rare ability to play both on and off the ball, adapting seamlessly to different lineups and roles.
Defensively, Freeman stands out with his length, athleticism, and discipline. He can effectively guard multiple perimeter positions, using his size and quickness to disrupt opposing guards.
Offensively, Freeman isn’t the flashiest player, but he’s highly productive. He continues to develop his handle and confidence creating off the bounce, while his mid-range and perimeter shooting have shown steady improvement.
Nicholas McLean – 6’9” | Class of 2026 | Winston-Salem Christian
Nicholas McLean really stood out during the Lions’ practice session. A skilled forward with excellent size, McLean combines perimeter shooting ability with a good basketball IQ, making him a valuable stretch option in the frontcourt.
He shows confidence spotting up from deep and has the touch to consistently knock down shots from the perimeter, forcing defenses to respect his range.
Riak Chol – 6’6” | Class of 2026 | Winston-Salem Christian (Prep Team)
Riak Chol is a hidden gem prospect who caught my eye with his size, athleticism, and defensive versatility.
Defensively, he can guard multiple positions and is highly active on the glass — consistently creating second-chance opportunities and ending possessions with rebounds. Offensively, Chol is at his best attacking downhill, but he also showcased the ability to hit perimeter shots.
With his motor, athletic tools, and growing skill set, Chol is a player trending upward — a player who should have a valuable role on the prep team.
Ned Brammall – 6’9” | Class of 2026 | Winston-Salem Christian (Prep Team)
At 6’9″, Ned Brammall brings an impressive combination of size, skill, and competitiveness to the floor. A skilled shooting forward, Brammall showcased his ability to consistently knock down shots from the perimeter, spacing the floor effectively and keeping defenses honest.
