The state of North Carolina is blessed with an overabundance of talent. In the North Carolina 2018 class, 60 plus players signed with D1 schools and another 40 plus signed to play at the D2, D3, NAIA or Juco level. Quite impressive numbers! This year, the 2019 class is on the same course to have 100 plus players continue to play at the collegiate level. In our unsigned senior spotlight, we want to take a closer look at 6’1 Austin Inge of Greensboro Day School in Greensboro, North Carolina who we strongly feel is a scholarship-worthy player.

When you play for legendary head coach Freddy Johnson, one thing is for certain. You will be a well-rounded basketball player that will be fundamentally sound, play within the team structure, but more importantly be an outstanding defensive player. Austin Inge has been part of the winning culture at Greensboro Day and simply knows and understands the game. We have been impressed with his overal court leadership, control of the game, poise and ability to make his teammates better. Austin can score, defend, dish out assists, but is the perfect complimentary teammate that can be a glue guy at the next level.

Last week, Phenom’s Jeff Bendel watched Greensboro Day win on the road against The Burlington Day School. He was quite impressed with the play of Austin Inge. He stated the following. “The unsigned senior point guard continues to make his case as a college-level basketball player with his solid two-way contributions for this Greensboro Day squad. Inge makes plays when necessary and understands how to manage the team without making mistakes. He offers a calming presence on both sides of the floor and contains his position quite well. Inge can play at the next level, especially in the right situation, so it’ll be interesting to see what schools get involved going forward.” Final stats: 6 points, 3 rebounds, 5 assists, and 1 steal.

At the National Phenom High School Showcase, Phenom’s Kevin Dawkings stated the following. “If I could have picked one person for MVP overall for Friday night it would have went to Inge. It all started on the defensive end where he was incredible from the start. Inge disrupts the other team’s flow not allowing them to set up their sets being vocal jumping passing lanes and not getting stuck on screens. Inge may never put up big scoring numbers but you will always see him making an impact on every game.”

Time and time again, Austin Inge has demonstrated to be a winner who leads by example. He’s one of those players that makes all the right plays, understands what it takes to win. We’ve watched Austin Inge countless times over the years and some things never change. What you see and get with Austin Inge is productivity. D2 and D3 schools looking for a proven winner should look no further!
