We have watched 6’3 unsigned senior countless times over his high school career and one storyline comes across crystal clear. Michael Grigg is a coach on the floor and plays with tremendous enthusiasm and passion for the game. At our October, 2014 NC Phenom camp, we wrote the following. “Michael is a fundamentally sound basketball player. He has a high basketball IQ and understands the game. He is like a coach on the floor. Michael is a strong guard who can really stoke the 3-pointer. He has excellent form on his shot and shot it extremely well off the dribble. He rebounds well for his size/position and defended nicely as well. More importantly, Michael has a great attitude.” Fast forward to NC Phenom 150 in October 2016, we wrote, “Michael is a fundamentally sound player, who constantly goes hard. He has a great frame to go along with his ball handling ability and range expands well beyond the arc. It’s time colleges at the appropriate level start watching here.”
This season, Michael is having an outstanding senior season for coach Dwight Miller and Cape Fear Christian Academy. Through 18 games, Michael is averaging 12.6 PPG, but has a high assist to turnover ratio on the court. With Michael, he is a low risk, high return player that will give you effort every game, not to mention an impressive 3.8 GPA. In addition, Michael has an impressive SAT score to boot. Coach Dwight Miller stated,“Michael is a floor leader and can really shoot the ball. In addition, Michael is a tough hardness defender.” Like many players like Michael, he is just looking for that opportunity. He has consistently proven his stock and value on the hardwood and also in the classroom.
