We’ve seen a lot of players come through our doors over the years, varying in appearance, skill level, and everything in between. We decided to put forth a series on some players who have attended events over the past few years but still remain on the lesser-known side of things. Each of these prospects embody being a student-athlete and getting it done in the classroom as well as on the basketball court, and today’s edition will take a closer look at Trace Forest of Pine Lake Prep.

We’ve seen Forest countless times throughout the years, including at our NC Phenom 150 Camp, where we stated, Next, we look at a player that knows how to disrupt opponents with his high motor and team-first approach, Trace Forest. He’s a point guard prospect with a pretty balanced two-way approach to the game. Offensively, Forest does a great job of handling the ball and making plays for others, but also showed the ability to effectively score on all three levels. He works extremely hard on defense and was able to force numerous turnovers through hustle plays. Next in his development process is working on the use of his off-hand, as it would make him a much craftier finisher around the basket. Coach Cheely on Forest: “Trace gives 100% the entire game. He can shoot the three-point and is deceptively quick with the ball in his hands. He’s a solid defender for his class and can shoot the ball efficiently. With more strength and improved on-ball defense, he can be a really good high school player. I like Trace’s upside and passing ability.” Forest simply plays the right way and seems to always find success, so it’ll be exciting to watch him progress going forward.

There are so many different ways for a player to impact the game, but Forest seems to almost defy the odds. Despite being 5-foot-10, he has found a way to constantly overwhelm opposing guards with his IQ, quickness, nonstop motor, and overall willingness to do anything possible to provide his team with an edge. Forest is a poised defender with great anticipation, which leads to a lot of steals and transition play. He stands out as a reliable shooter and playmaker that can operate as a lead creator or maximize his presence as an off-ball threat. Forest is a terrific leader by example and someone that college coaches should want at the next level.
