The Winter Nationals with Phenom Hoops is one of the best events to start the season because we not only kick off the travel ball season in a big way, but we also get a chance to see the future around the country. So many players came through the doors this past weekend and left a lasting impression, as we dive in and break down many of their games.
A guard that was new personally for me was 2029 Kayden Durham from Team Loaded NC. Getting a chance to watch him on several occasions at the event, I walked away consistently saying that this young guard looked and played tougher than many that I saw throughout the weekend. The guard uses a good frame early on and uses that to his advantage, constantly attacking downhill, getting to where he wants in the paint, creating for himself and others, and finding ways to finish through defenders and contact. Durham excelled so well in being able to attack but he also flourished in creating, running the show offensively, competing defensively, and also knocking down shots.
Durham will be a player that is on our radar more as he continues to grow and develop his overall game, and enter his high school career in the coming years.
What Was Said:
“2029 Kayden Durham (Team Loaded) is a strong physical guard that excelled attacking and creating. Strong finisher but also knocked down key free throws.”
“We were eager to see all of the talent on display for Team Loaded, and Durham was the one who consistently caught my eye with his play. Very physical guard that didn’t shy away in attacking downhill, attacking the basket, embracing contact, and finishing strong. But he brought a good overall balance in showing his ability to knock down open shots from the perimeter.”
