So much talent was in the house. On Saturday Phenom Hoops hosted 32 of the best 14U-17U teams in the region. With multiple shoe brand contenders and Top 100 prospects in the building, here are the players who caught my eye…
6’5” 2018 Coby White
Greenfield School (NC) / CP3 16U
Was the best player in the event. White is primed for a huge summer, and to break into the nation’s Top 50+ prospects. White is able to play equal parts PG and SG for this AAU team. He led his team in scoring, averaging 18 a game (9 more than the next guy up). Big summer and handfuls of offers to come, and it will start off with the Spring Hoops Fest LIVE April 16-17 in Greensboro, NC.
6’6” 2019 Marcus Watson
West Forsyth High School (NC) / CP3 15U
Watson has always had the frame and the talent, but he is finally putting it together between the ears. A physically strong shooting guard, Watson has deep range to go along with a quick trigger. He is a good athlete and plays with great pace in the half court set. Watson will open eyes this summer, and it will start off with the Spring Hoops Fest LIVE April 16-17 in Greensboro, NC.
6’7” Unsigned Sr Spencer Kirkpatrick
Carolina Day School (NC) / PSB Select Unsigned Srs
Playing high school in Western North Carolina, Kirkpatrick has flown a bit under the radar. With that said, Kirpatrick averaged a double/double this high school season as his team finished 20-5, making the Final Four of the state tournament. Kirkpatrick has great hands & patience on the block. He has vision and touch at the high post. He is strong and works hard. Expect D2s to get in the mix this summer, and it will start off with the Spring Hoops Fest LIVE April 16-17 in Greensboro, NC.
6’5” 2018 Jaron Williams
York Prep (SC) / Upward Stars York County 16U
We have seen Williams a good bit over the past two years, and he really stood out as a multi-positional defensive stopper (even against older kids). This weekend, he showed that he can carry a team offensively. He went for a camp high 39 points, scoring over 20 in each outing. He is long and plays with great pace. He also showed range (13 3s in the 3 games) and a quick release. Williams will place himself on many college program’s radar this summer and may even earn his first of many offers. It will all start for him at the Spring Hoops Fest LIVE April 16-17 in Greensboro, NC.
6’3” 2018 Isaac Suffren
Myers Park High School (NC) / Team United 16U Elite
Suffren is smooth, it takes :30 second of watching him play to see that. If you have read Phenom Hoop Report over the last year, you have read multiple write ups about Suffren. He got buckets at the Fall NC Phenom 150, he got buckets at the 2016 NC Top 80, and he got buckets this weekend. Suffren has a sweet shot with great pace and handle in the half court. He gets into the mid-range and confidently elevates for shot after shot. Suffren will place himself on many college program’s radar this summer and may even earn his first of many offers. It will all start for him at the Spring Hoops Fest LIVE April 16-17 in Greensboro, NC.
