
Brewster Academy’s 2027 wing Markus Kerr is quickly emerging as one of the more intriguing prospects in his class. With his length, skill, and ability to impact the game on both ends, Kerr has taken clear steps forward this season. His versatility, improved confidence, and growing recruitment have made him a name college programs are beginning to track closely. Here is a one on one interview with the high major wing.
- Brewster is one of the top prep programs in the country — what’s been the biggest adjustment on a daily basis?
MK: The biggest adjustment for me has definitely been being away from home and also time management, making time for academics, basketball, and a social life based on your daily schedule.
- What is the biggest area of growth you’ve seen in your first months at Brewster?
MK: Definitely my jump-shot and being in the right spots on defense & my overall communication & motor.
- What part of your game are you currently most focused on sharpening—shot creation, catch-and-shoot consistency, decision-making, or finishing?
MK: I’ve been more focused trying to make my reads on or off the bounce quicker because you don’t have time to think in this league with the pace of play. Also, sharpening my jump-shot through repetition and making sure my foot work is efficient .
- What do you feel is your most underrated skill?
MK: I feel like my versatility on both sides of the ball is very underrated.
- Are there certain things on campus (academics, strength program, player development staff) you focus on when visiting schools?
MK: Player development & strength and conditioning is very important to me when visiting schools.
- How important are relationships with coaches compared to playing style and conference fit?
MK: Relationships, playing style and fit are equally important when choosing a school.
- What are your goals for this 2025-2026 season?
MK: First off, to win a Chipotle National Championship with my brothers. And then personally, Continue to add dimensions to my game offensively and continue improving on the defensive end.
