Not having a chance to watch the Academy of Central Florida early this year, Phenom Hoops was excited to see all the talent on display at the George Lynch Invitational. One player that you simply couldn’t miss was 2026 7’3 Symon Ghai, who came in committed to Northwestern.
Standing above everyone else, you simply couldn’t miss him on the court and once you saw him play, his teammates certainly fed into that. His size was a clear advantage, and he showed that throughout both games at the event. Ghai brings a strong presence on either side of the ball, running the floor well and getting deep into the paint, using his height and length well as well as getting position down low. Teammates had ease at times in throwing him the ball down low, as he looked to finish with touch or at the rim. But he also did a great job in creating second-chance opportunities off the glass. Defensively, it was clear that Ghai created issues for opponents in protecting the rim and paint, blocking multiple shots and swallowing up the boards.
The Northwestern big man looks to be a good future piece for the program, as he should only get better, develop more of his feel, and get stronger as a big man. But he has a chance to be a true force for the Wildcats, and we continue to expect him to rack up double-doubles for the Academy of Central Florida this season.
What Was Said:
“2026 Symon Ghai (Central Florida) has been a force down in the paint. Guards are doing a great job getting him deep in the paint, and Ghai is finishing the job around the rim. Paint protector on the defensive side.”
“7’3 ‘26 Symon Ghai (Academy of Central Florida) utilizes his incredible size to reliably anchor the paint on both ends. Completely controlled the glass, posed a constant lob threat, and altered a ton of shots defensively. Final stats: 19 points, 11 rebounds”
