Phenom Hoops has made it a point to find talent in surrounding states around North Carolina, which is why we are looking in Virginia. This is a state that has produced some terrific talent in the past and it seems like that trend will continue; but we will have to admit, this is a state that goes a bit under the radar as well.
Recently, we had a chance to check in with our good friends at Blue Ridge, a program that has brought some terrific talent to the court. And when getting a chance to watch them again, there are plenty of names that college coaches should be looking at, from all levels.
Here are a few names that captured our eyes recently with their play:
2024 Shanon Simango
The 6’7 forward who already holds one offer from Hampton, played extremely well when we watched him, going for 17 points and nine rebounds. Though some may say he could be a bit undersized, he is a player that brings production to the table with his energy, his motor, and feel for the game. He is getting his first real chance to showcase his full game as one of the go-to guys down in the paint, using his 6’11 wingspan well, attacking the boards on both sides, and being active around the paint. He possesses good footwork and runs the floor well also, and he could be a name that more schools start looking at.
2024 Kamren Martin
Martin is a prospect that we first learned about this summer with Inspire Elite, and he is now making his mark with Blue Ridge in his first year. We are talking about a 6’5 versatile guard that understands how to help run the show, get others involved, create for himself and others, but also be a scorer from multiple levels. He is a smooth shooter from outside, and has a natural feel for the game. He is a name that is going a bit under the radar but could be a nice snag for a program.
2023 Cam Brewer
Brewer is just a gritty guard that plays hard, battles, and does what is needed. He is a player that also plays football, and he brings that mental toughness and physicality to the court as well. He is tough, can knock down shots from outside, creates off the dribble well, and is one that just gets the job done on the court. Brewer is an unsigned senior that could help a program and will work hard at the next level.
2025 Colby White
Once part of the class of 2024, White is now part of the Class of 2025 which makes him even more intriguing. He is a 6’3 strong, physical guard that could only continue to grow and develop. He has tremendous potential in his game, showing that he can be a big-time shooter but also has a lot of upside left to reach. His brother, who played college basketball, ended up being 6’6, so if he continues to grow and develop, he could be the next big recruit to come from the program.
