We start diving into prospects in the state of Virginia who have had very impressive seasons and who are only freshmen. These players have helped lead the charge for their team, and have put up strong numbers. Check out a few names that we have learned about, but also can shed more light.

Trey Beamer (Carlisle)

2022-23 Stats: 22.6ppg, 46 made threes, 92 percent from the free throw line

Beamer is a player that captured our eyes this summer with Team United and other programs, and he is doing so in IMPRESSIVE fashion this season.  When talking about Beamer before, time after time we talked about his scoring capability. He is smooth, makes it look effortless at times, good in transition, has a nice burst to his game, can fill it up from the perimeter when needed, and just has a natural understanding of the game.  Do believe that he is going to be a name that catches on sooner rather than later.

Stephon Cherry (Veritas Collegiate)

2022-23 Stats: 14.4ppg, 8.4rpg, 1.3bpg, 1.3spg

Another freshman to start looking at is Cherry at Veritas Collegiate. The young prospect brings great size, and there is a lot of upside to his game.  He can be productive in an array of ways with his frame, showing his athleticism and bounce, his ability to make plays off the bounce, knock down shots from an array of levels, and plays hard on the boards as well.  He should be a player that starts getting on more radars quickly from the state of Virginia.

Latrell Allmond (John Marshall)

2022-23 Stats: 11.9ppg, 9.5rpg, 3.6bpg

We stated over a year ago that he is going to be a nationally-ranked player and coveted by many programs.  If you missed it, you can read it here (Click Here).  Allmond is a 6’8 big man with a tremendous skill set at his age. He is physical around the basket, has a great feel around the paint, can be dominating with his touch, and has the ability to step out as well; there are just so many things to like about his game. Which is why schools like Virginia and others have already stepped in.

Brody Dawyot (Glenvar)

2022-23 Stats: 14.1ppg, 5.0rpg, 1.3spg

Dawyot, the younger brother of Owyn Dawyot at Virginia Tech, is a dual-sport athlete that is showing he can get it done on the football field and is playing extremely well on the court. He plays hard and with a great motor, finishes well, has good size at 6’5, and can play multiple positions on the floor.  It will be interesting to see how he develops, but he has proven that he is one to watch out for on the football field and basketball court.

Jackson Wallace (Stafford)

2022-23 Stats: 10.9ppg, 3.3apg, 2.2rpg

The 5’9 prospect has had a solid start to the season for Stafford, really being able to earn valuable knowledge and getting big-time minutes this season for his team. Averaging nearly 28 minutes per game as the starting point guard, Wallace is showing his ability to lead the charge, his playmaking and scoring capabilities, and his speed on the court. Tough guard that is producing early on and showing his leadership on the court.

Lukas Buinevicius 9VES)

2022-23 Stats: 8.6ppg, 3.9rpg, 2.9apg

Buinevicius is a player we highlighted earlier this season with VES, and with a 6’5 frame already and feel for the game as a young prospect, he is one to jot down and keep an eye on.  In our latest viewing, Buinevicius led the charge with 17 points, showing how tough he can be, his productivity on the floor, ability to create, and finish strong.

Shawn Spellman (Landstown)

2022-23 Stats: 9.2ppg, 3.8rpg

Spellman is a player that we are excited about watching, as we got our first viewing back in the Outer Banks.  There is a lot to like early on with his flashes, his 6’5 extremely long frame, his impact on both ends, and what he ultimately could be as he continues to develop. He can be a scorer from all three levels, he does a nice job on the defensive end with his length and wingspan and can be a very nice versatile piece on the floor with how can operate.  There is a lot of potential to his game, so he is going to be a name you will want to jot down and watch in the state of Virginia.

Zaevion Cleveland (Landstown)

2022-23 Stats: 10.8ppg, 5.7rpg, 1.4apg, 1.3spg

The other part of Landstown’s future is Cleveland, a 6’3 prospect that also is flourishing and caught our eyes at the Outer Banks.  Cleveland can showcase his ability to be strong and physical, get downhill and to the rim, and finish around defenders and with contact.  Cleveland is a nice two-way prospect that helps both offensively in scoring and making plays but also helps out on the defensive end.
