Phenom Hoops continues to bring you content surrounding the recruitment of players around the country. We recently spoke with 2022 Ethan Marlowe with Meanstreets, as he is hoping this summer is a big one for him on the court and with his recruitment. He holds one offer already but could more be joining down the road' Marlowe discusses the latest with us.
Phenom: We have spoken to a lot of your teammates and we wanted to ask you how this summer has been going for you on the court with Meanstreets'
Marlowe: I actually haven’t been able to play the last few weeks because I have been sidelined with a minor back injury, but the time that I’ve had on the court with the guys has been great. It is a great group and just playing with the team in practice has made me a better player.
Phenom: Well, once you get back on the court, what are you hoping to show more about your game'
Marlowe: I think that I just have a lot to prove going into my senior season. I think once I get back on to the court, I’ll be able to show much more of my developing perimeter game, as well as my face-up game inside.
Phenom: How would you best describe your game'
Marlowe: I would say that I am a very diverse player. I can score at all three levels and play well through pick and pop action. As well as back-to-the-basket situations. Defensively, I also take pride in being able to guard 2-5.
Phenom: How has your recruitment been going overall in your eyes'
Marlowe: I have really been an unknown prospect up until this year, so my recruitment has been somewhat slow but it has started to pick up in the last year. UPenn is a school that has constantly reached out. I have also heard from Drake, Valparaiso, Western Illinois, and Southern Utah among others.
Phenom: What do you think has been the biggest difference with your game that has taken you from an unknown player to where you are today, in your opinion'
Marlowe: I think the difference has just been my work ethic. In my first year of high school, I realized the player I could be, and ever since then, I have always had a basketball in my hands. Also, just getting out of my hometown and playing against different competition and better players; I have learned a lot.
Phenom: What has Penn been saying your way, showing the most interest'
Marlowe: I have had many calls with their coaching staff and learned a lot about the academics and the athletic program. They stay in touch about every other day.
Phenom: Any schools that you would like to visit'
Marlowe: I haven’t really given much thought into that yet. I think in due time, when more schools get in the mix, by the end of the summer I will start to narrow down what schools I may want to see.
