If you followed Phenom Hoops over the years, you had to have heard the name Jonas Aidoo from when he played at Voyager Academy to his time shining with Team Curry and Liberty Heights last year.  Now, the big man is starting to show what he could be for the Vols in the coming years and it has fans excited.

Though Aidoo missed some time early on, the 7-foot freshman has been coming along nicely this season and has been showing his potential in some big games the last few weeks.  He earned double-digit minutes vs. Mississippi State just a few weeks ago and had a very strong showing against Kentucky, being an impact on both ends of the floor.  In a 76-63 victory at home, Aidoo finished the game with five points, seven rebounds, and three blocks.

Aidoo is showing how big of an impact he can be on the boards and as a shot-blocker on the floor while continuing to develop his overall offensive game and get stronger at the college level. We have watched him grow and develop into the player he is today and we think that this is just the start for the freshman big man at Tennessee.

Fans are already getting excited about his play and that they should, as they look to have a player that can really help man the middle, be a big-time defensive presence and a developing offensive talent in the coming years.

What Was Said By Phenom Hoops Before:

“Since our Top 80 Camp in March, Aidoo has been on an absolute tear on both sides of the ball. He’s been an elite rim protector and rebounder against all levels of competition but has also shown the ability to step out and switch onto guards with relative ease. Aidoo has phenomenal size, touch, and shoots the ball particularly well for his position, immediately making him a matchup problem for all types of opponents. He’s very fluid, which allows him to attack closeouts, recover with impeccable timing, and alter shots with regularity. Aidoo plays within himself and possesses quality instincts on both ends of the floor. Buy now, because Aidoo is truly just beginning to scratch the surface of his upside.” – NC Top 80

“His archetype is almost non-existent because his blend of skill and physical tools is so unique. Already a comfortable seven-feet tall, Aidoo is really just beginning to add the proper strength to effectively carry out his game on a nightly basis. He works well out of the post and can easily space the floor for catch-and-shoot threes. Aidoo is a high-level rebounder and rim-protector with a skill set that is constantly improving.” – January 2020

“What makes him special is his ability to be great on both sides of the ball. He is an extremely special talent. He has a great feel for the game. Runs the floor really well. Great hands when catching dump-off passes and lobs. Tremendous touch scoring around the rim and on the perimeter.” – Nov 2020
