Greetings HS hoops junkies from across the Falcons-pulling-for Piedmont! The Great One is here to give out his superlatives for last weekend’s Mike Gminski Classic at Marvin Ridge HS. There was a lot of great action and with great action comes great efforts. We will compliment those efforts in The Sadster’s G-Man superlative list. This showcase event saw great matchups and great moments. West Charlotte seemed to be at the center of most of these moments. Cannon played them close, Queens Grant took advantage of Kaharri Coleman foul trouble to down the Lions by 6, and Myers Park took them to OT only to have Chacho Womack end the game on a 12 foot buzzer beater for a WC win. Hunter Huss also did something that The Great One had previously never seen before as Jaleel Smith and Zaiyir Phillips both put up 30 or more in the same game for the same team. Next, East Meck’s Zavion Funderburk dropped 6 three balls in a half. Finally, the host school, Marvin Ridge, posted an impressive 3-0 record for the 3 day event and may have played their way into The Sadster’s Furious 5 rankings. We will find that out on Monday. The following players were standouts for their squads but many other players also gave their all in their effort to make a good showing and help their team……. TO THE LIST!!!!
