There was certainly plenty of talent on display at the Phenom Tornado Classic this past weekend, but the highest-ranked prospect on the court was 2028 6’7 Isaac Smith from Hargrave. And after watching him once again in action, it was clear that there is a ton of potential in his game.
He ended the event by going for 19 points and 7 rebounds, bringing a lot to the table and attracting the eyes of many.
Smith brings an intriguing blend of size, athleticism, and feel that immediately stands out for a young prospect. He uses his length and mobility well to finish around the rim, consistently playing above the basket and converting opportunities with confidence. Smith is active and engaged on the glass, using his frame and timing to create second-chance opportunities. Beyond the physical tools, he shows encouraging instincts as both a scorer and passer, making strong reads and playing within the flow of the game. With his foundation of tools, energy, and developing skill set, Smith’s trajectory points toward continued growth and a very high ceiling as his game continues to mature.
And with that blossoming skill set, his recruitment will only continue to take the next step. Currently, Smith holds offers from Old Dominion, Mississippi State, and Arizona State. But, in talking with Smith after the event, interest has been picking up with several schools, including Notre Dame, Penn State, Indiana, and VCU; that list will only continue to grow with what he showed.
