It has been a great summer so far for Phenom Hoops, as we have had a chance to see a ton of talent both on our platform but also watching national, high-level events all around the country. Recently, we had a chance to attend the Adidas 3SSB Championships and another view on ESPN of 2025 Darryn Peterson, a player that has really impressed with what he can do on the court.
One of our first views with Peterson was with Team USA at the FIBA U16 Americas, where we had this to say:
“2025 Darryn Peterson (USA) has been known to fill it up and that was on full display in this game, scoring 22 points in just over 23 minutes of action. He was able to be in attack mode, get to his spots, get inside the defense, and score with ease all night. But he also was able to fill up the box score as well with six rebounds, five assists, and two steals.”
Watching him again in Rock Hill and recently on national television, Peterson is one that simply impresses me each time with what he can do on the court. When you talk about one of the most prolific scorers in the country, Peterson certainly finds himself on that list. He has that “it” factor that a lot of players don’t have; he can get what he wants when he wants. When the lights are brightest, he elevates his game to another level that you don’t always see.
When operating on the court, Peterson is the one that wants the ball in his hands and simply says “get out of my way.” Whether it is creating off the bounce, knocking down shots from outside, his one-dribble pull-up game, his ability to get to the rim and showcase his athleticism, or his ability to create and be a playmaker, Peterson is one that has it all in his arsenal and does it with ease at times. He has tremendous body control, reads the floor and attacks the defender’s weakness, has a nice burst of speed but also elevates really well over defenders, can hit tough shots, and plays with a ton of energy but also with a smooth feel.
There isn’t much Peterson can’t do on the court, and continues to show why he is one of the best prolific bucket-getters in the country, regardless of class.
Peterson right now holds offers from all over the country including schools like Kentucky, North Carolina, UCLA, Syracuse, South Carolina, Maryland, Alabama, Texas, Indiana, LSU, and so many others. Whoever is able to land his talents, fully expect him to put on a show and have that “it” factor in which he wants the ball and can score however he wants.
