2022 Joseph Serra (West Cabarrus): When his team was down, the senior stepped up in a big way to help his team get right back in the game and eventually take the lead.  Serra impacted the game on both ends, knocking down big shots from deep but also picking his spots to attack and score.  Also really liked his presence on the defensive end, playing scrappy defense and getting after his defender.  Finished the game with five 3-pointers and 17 points.

2023 Peyton Scott (Butler): Scott may have not been the focal point in the offense but this is a young man that was incredibly productive with the minutes he played on the court. He played with such a motor down low on the boards, creating second-chance opportunities for his team, attacking the glass, and capitalizing on scoring chances down low or from the line. Posted a nice stat line of nine points and nine rebounds.

2023 Zion McDuffie (Butler): McDuffie stepped up in a big way to help his team secure the OT victory. He brings a versatile skill set to the floor and can operate successfully from an array of positions. He uses his length and wingspan to his advantage, especially in this game, where he finished at the rim on several occasions but also used his length to get out in the passing lanes and turn it into transition points. He was a monster today, finishing with 26 points, four rebounds, and five steals.

2024 Bishop Boswell (South Meck): This is the Boswell that I absolutely love to see. He was off the charts, aggressively attacking in transition, showing his improved outside shooting, and his ability to be such a crafty ballhandler that creates for himself or others. Love his IQ and stepping up as a leader; it is the reason why schools are already coming his way and if he shows more of what we saw on Day 1, that list will grow.

2024 Sincere Rasul (South Meck): Part of a terrific guard duo in Rasul and Jacob Newman, I was impressed with what I saw out of the sophomore guard. Showed tremendous quickness with the ball, attacking and penetrating the defense, creating for himself well.  Just was quick in getting to the cup and made so many plays when needed. Hit some big shots for his team on Day 1.

2022 Karon Boyd (Cannon): Whoever is able to snag Boyd is going to get an absolute workhorse on the court in the coming years.  I’ve said it before and will say it again… Boyd is just one that you don’t have to worry about on the court because you will get the max effort out of him. Just a relentless presence on the boards and finishes strong in the paint, not shying away from contact.  Boyd just leaves it all out there, something programs could use more of. Finished with 27 points and nine rebounds.

2024 Quay Watson (Hopewell): Watson continues to be a name that pops up over the past several months. The young point guard continues to play at a high level. Continues to be an effective point guard and scorer on the floor, playing strong and embracing contact, as well as being a crafty ball-handler.  Really stepped up for his team in big moments, eventually finishing with 28 points to help his team secure the two-point win.
