If you have read Phenom Hoops for any amount of time, as many of you have, you have read or heard about JP Moorman. You read about all the winning he has done, you have read about the rapid development his body has undergone, you have read about the rapid increase of production he has had.
Now, we will tell you about what you are getting with JP Moorman. After watching him in the prestigious North Carolina Top 80 we wrote, “JP Moorman has made more progress, in terms of improvement, over the past year than anyone in the state. The best words to describe JP are versatility and mobility. Simply put, JP may be the most versatile player in the state regardless of class. He can play multiple positions and has expanded his skill set, athleticism, and overall basketball IQ. In addition, it is his competitiveness that is most impressive. He competes on both ends of the court and has a habit of making winning player. Without question, this young man is a winner!”
Moorman has a great skill set, in the same way Draymond Green is for Golden State, he is the glue man for his team. Moorman handles the ball in the half court, and shows high level passing ability. Moorman is great in transition, where he finishes high above the rim. In the half court, he makes shots at all 3 levels. Moorman has won a lot of games at every level and is a central figure on each of his teams.
North Carolina Sports Hall of Famer Freddie Johnson (also Moorman’s high school coach) stated, “Moorman is an impact player for us at Greensboro Day School. People will be surprised by who offers him. He can play 1-4. In addition, he has worked hard and redefined his body.”
Starting for CP3 All Stars on Nike’s EYBL circuit, his team finished 18-3 on the season. Starting for Greensboro Day School, in NCISAA 3A, his team finished 28-5. Combined, in North Carolina’s toughest private school league and in AAU basketball’s toughest league, JP Moorman started on teams who finished 46-8.
Just as Johnson suggested, Moorman carries over 20 offers, from the likes of Cincinnati, Richmond, VCU, East Carolina, Charlotte, etc…He has redefined his body to the point of averaging 9.5 points (50% FG), 6 boards, and 2 assists per game on the EYBL this year.
