Personal: CJ comes from athletic roots! His Dad, Chris Huntley played college basketball at Wingate University where he remains 2nd on their all-time scoring list. He is a 2004 inductee into the Wingate University Hall of Fame. His mother, Andrea Huntley played college volleyball at North Carolina A&T State University on a four year volleyball scholarship. While there she also played softball. Chris’ twin sister is a USA Volleyball standout player and potential D1 recruit.

High School Coach Evaluation: CJ has a ton of potential to be a big time player. He improved tremendously throughout the high school season as a freshman on the varsity team. He is nearly automatic from 15 ft. and has range out to the 3 point line. As he adds weight and strength he will be a force in the paint on offense and defense. CJ handles the ball really well for his size allowing him to help break pressure and drive the ball from the perimeter. He is extremely respectful and eager to build on his skill set. – Coach Jeff Coble, Head Coach – Davidson Day School

AAU Coach Evaluation: CJ is a breath of fresh air. He works hard and never complains. He has a very nice touch on his jump shot and uses his length to rebound and block shots well. He is working on his strength and aggressiveness but as they improve the sky is the limit for this 6’7 kid that sports a size 17 shoe and is still growing! – Coach Frank Fleming, Jr.- Team Felton AAU

Coach Frank says: CJ is one of the most intriguing prospects I’ve seen in the 2020 class; long, athletic, skilled and versatile. His obvious length at 6’7 with a longer wingspan stands out but his skill level and court awareness is well advanced. CJ handles well enough to get to the rim downhill and can score with contact. He has a nice touch on the jumper and can hit the three pointer with good consistency, has very good shot mechanics! CJ looks very comfortable as a face up player as he has solid footwork, receives the ball shot ready and can hit the middle jumper or score off the bounce. He is also a very good passer. He can score with his back to the basket as he shows off a nice baby jump hook and strong drop step moves. He has very good footwork and mobility, great hands. CJ has quickness and lateral mobility, does well defending opposing forwards on the perimeter as he moves his feet and has good defensive posture. He is an imposing paint presence as he plays good position defense, blocks shots and is an active rebounder. CJ has obviously been well coached and is an exciting prospect with tremendous upside. College coaches at the DI level should add him to their watch list as he has all the tools and surroundings for success on and off the court.
