Player: Jyi Dawkins
Class: 2026
School: Ben L. Smith
AAU: Garner Road
A player that has been leaving his mark early on this summer has been 2026 Jyi Dawkins from Garner Road 17u. A player that we had a great opportunity to watch this past high school season, and right before the circuit at the Seros Open, Dawkins has clearly elevated his level to start the summer. Phenom Hoops had this to say just a few weeks ago:
“Dawkins was another guard that I believe deserves recognition, and if I were a college program around the area, I wouldn’t be letting him escape North Carolina. Dawkins was impressive with his shot-making, being an effective option with his mid-range game over defenders, stretching the floor from behind the arc, and also making strong plays in attacking off the bounce. Dawkins has had a tremendous year and should be garnering offers from college programs, and I believe this weekend is the start of a big summer for him.”
And now, Dawkins is coming off a strong individual showing in his four games with Garner Road on the 3SSB Circuit.
Vs. Team Loaded South: 20pts, 5rebs, 1stl
vs. Wildcat Select: 14pts, 4rebs, 4asts
vs. Washington Warriors: 18pts, 3rebs, 1ast
vs. Arkansas Hawks: 14pts, 4rebs, 1stl
Averaging 16.5ppg to start the summer, Dawkins has looked to be one of the go-to options for this Garner Road team, and is proving that he should be a big-time target for programs all around the area. With his blend of motor/energy, shot-making and creating, scoring from inside and out, and athleticism, Dawkins has proven to be a clear D1 prospect as his recruitment should see an uptick quickly this summer. He has a lot to offer and has that “it” factor in his game as he looks to prove everyone wrong. We are excited to watch him more this summer, as Dawkins looks to be a man on a mission.
