6’0 2021 Callahan Reed: Carolina Riptide 15U
Reed is the kind of guy you want on your team in the sense that he does all of the little things necessary to get a tough win. Chasing down loose balls, fighting for offensive rebounds, and just being a general pest really helped the Riptide get a hard nosed win. Reed spent the majority of the game on the perimeter guarding Upward’s best offensive player and did so at a high level, giving Jarvis Moss nothing easy handling the top of the zone. He’s simply an all around competitor that every team could use.
6’2 2021 Jarvis Moss: Upward Stars Charlotte 15U
Moss has had a really eye opening weekend for a lot of people. Averaging over 20 PPG through the course of 3 games, he’s been one of the more impressive performers all weekend regardless of age group and what intrigues me most about him is the savviness in which he plays with. At 6’2 he is the primary ball handler as a freshman and is really a score first player, but can still dish the rock and get his guys in position with relative ease. He had a matchup zone against him in this one and still found a way to have a productive game despite all the attention from the opposition.
