Concord Academy and Bull City Durham matched up on Court 1 on Day 1.  Both teams started to feel each other and turnovers were tough in the first quarter, as Concord Academy was able to knock down a big three to create a 5-point cushion after the first quarter.

Concord Academy continued to retain their lead throughout the second quarter but Bull City Durham seemed to always have an answer and kept it around a 2-4-point gap, with Concord Academy leading 42-38 at halftime.

It took a little time but Concord Academy was able to finally create a little distance late in the third quarter, creating a double-digit cushion with better energy and executing on offense.  They held that cushion until the final minutes, when Bull City Prep was able to speed up Concord, force quick shots and eventually get it down to 2 points in the final seconds.  After a missed free throw, Ray Leach took it coast to coast for the score and the foul, in hopes of giving Bull City Durham the lead with 1.6 seconds.  However, a technical foul was assessed and Logan Threatt knocked down the two free throws to give Concord Academy the 76-75 victory.

Tyler Fearne 15 points
Javian Cannady 13 points

Bull City Durham:
Ray Leach: 16 points

Standouts:

2022 Anthony Smith (Bull City Prep Durham): Smith led with energy, motor, and willingness to run the floor. He presents good speed to get by defenders, along with running the floor, as he was able to score some easy buckets in transition on multiple occasions.

2022 Adam Omar (Bull City Prep Durham): Omar was the other scoring threat for this team, as he did a solid job in penetrating the lane, running the floor and getting out, but also finding open spots to knock down shots.

2021 Trae Benham (Concord Academy): Benham turned it up in the second half to help lead his team, getting more aggressive on the offensive end and attacking the boards.  It wasn’t the big-time game that we have seen in the past but he brought the leadership for this team.

2021 Tyler Fearne (Concord Academy): Fearne is a 6’6 prospect that can operate in many locations with his ability to stretch the floor but also move around the paint.  He stepped up big tonight inside the arc but also on the boards, finishing with 15 points and 11 rebounds in the win.
