For the two games, Devon Dotson averaged 25 PPG, 9 RPG, and 3 APG and was an absolute pit bulldog on defense.

The 3rd Annual Phenom Hoops National HS Showcase is in the books. Big time players step up in big time games and today, we are going to look at a player that made an impression on fans, scouts, and media. The event was filled with nationally ranked teams and high profile players. Now, let’s take a closer look at one of the players that made a lasting impression on us.
6’2 ’18 Devon Dotson (Providence Day)
For the two games, Devon Dotson averaged 25 PPG, 9 RPG, and 3 APG and was an absolute pit bulldog on defense. No player dominated both ends of the court like Dotson, plain and simple. In the first game against Bishop Sullivan, Dotson with a little help from backcourt Trey Wertz rallied to defeat a very talented and well coached team. He went head to head against nationally ranked 6’2 Rasir Bolton. Providence Day earned a hard fought 80-76 overtime win. In the game against Bishop Sullivan, Dotson enjoyed a double double of 30 points and 10 rebounds, not too mention dishing out six assists. What’s even more impressive about the 30 points, Dotson didn’t even attempt a shot outside of the lane. Blessed with good physical strength, outstanding quickness and explosion, Dotson has a knack of getting to the rim. He has a splendid hesitation move and acceleration along with the fact he can go left as easily as right. He has excellent body control and when he doesn’t finish, he is fouled often and able to connect from the free throw line.
Saturday night, Dotson and Providence Day were matched up against 6’4 ’18 UNC commit Coby White of Greenfield. White and Dotson have battled over the number one spot in the Phenom Hoop Report NC 2018 ranking. Dotson engineered Providence Day to a 65-57 win over Greenfield. He finished with 20 points, eight rebounds and four assists. However, the most important fact is Providence Day won both games and started off the season at 2-0. Standing a strong and sturdy 6’2, Dotson is sometimes overlooked because he may not have the height or length as some of his counterparts. That being said, Dotson is unique simply because of his DNA and chemical make up. To put it bluntly, there aren’t many players in the country that has his competitive attitude. He is wired to compete and loves the challenge of matching up against high profile players.
Defensively, there aren’t many point guards in the country that can play as tough man-to-man defense. He is a lock down defender and has all the intangibles that one cherished in the point guard position. While many players enjoyed outstanding offensive performance at the Phenom Hoops National HS Showcase, no player dominated both ends of the court as Devon Dotson.
