It is a tough year to get out and watch basketball at times but what it has provided us is an opportunity to go back and watch games, getting a glimpse of players around the state. We went back and looked at the film between Erwin and AC Reynolds, giving us a few more names to jot down and remember. As far as the game, Erwin played strong in the first few minutes but AC Reynolds started to finally start clicking offensively half-way through the quarter, helping earn an 18-10 lead. Freshman Rakease Passmore started to get in on the scoring, along with senior Malaki Carter which helped expand the Rockets’ lead at halftime 39-13. Erwin simply struggled to knock down shots in the first half.

AC Reynolds continued to hold their lead and eventually expand it to the 30-point mark but Erwin did continue to compete until the end, scoring 31 points in the second half. But the offensive showing along with their defensive presence from AC Reynolds, it was too much in the end as the Rockets secured the 73-44 win on Thursday night.

Stats:
AC Reynolds:
Malaki Carter 14 points
Rakease Passmore 11 points, 7 rebounds
Anthony Lewis 13 points

Erwin:
Coleman Ratcliff 13 points
Nolan Risk 11 points
Jaydon Dawkins 9 points

Standouts:

2024 Rakease Passmore (AC Reynolds): A freshman that you will want to see and you will hear a lot more about.  Passmore leads the team in scoring this season and against Erwin, you can see the flashes that brings excitement to his game. He is explosive and reacts quickly on the boards, using his size to his advantage along with good touch.  But Passmore uses that same athleticism to finish strong at the rim as well.  What really catches your eye though is how he is able to break down and get by defenders, changes direction well with the dribble, and gets his defender on his size.  This is a freshman with a ton of talent and is going to be a big-time target for many programs.

2021 Malaki Carter (AC Reynolds): Carter had a tremendous balance in creating for others, pushing the break, but also scoring for himself.  Offensively, he is a quick guard that can score in an array of ways, getting out in transition but also scoring from outside. He did a terrific job in finding and creating for his teammates, setting them up for easy shots.

2021 Nolan Risk (Erwin): The guard played strong and helped lead the charge, being one of the more consistent threats offensively. He attacked well off the dribble but also knocked down shots from outside.
