Each and every time Phenom Hoops gets to report or sees a commitment from a player we have seen over the years, it is always a fantastic day.  It is great to see players achieve their goal to play at the next level and it is such a great accomplishment for that player. Here is the latest commitment.

Player: Jamias Ferere
Class: 2025
Committed to: Gardner-Webb

“Ferere can reliably pass, handle, and score the ball from all levels. He finishes really well through contact, makes smart decisions, and outworks his assignment on both ends of the floor. Ferere is a strong rebounder and quality defender with the ability to toggle between multiple positions. Coach McGrath on Ferere: “Jamias is a coachable kid and good teammate with a great attitude. He’s athletic enough to regularly get past defenders, but needs to work on consistently finishing. His shot looks good; needs repetition and seeing it go in the basket. Jamias really wants to win. He struggles when watching the ball stick in someone’s hands.”

“Ferere, his teammate at Southern Guilford, is another 6’4 prospect that shined in the bright lights as well.  Ferere is another prospect that can initiate the break and offense, break down defenders and create for himself, and does an excellent job in attacking the paint and finishing strong.  What also excited us about his game is the impact he made on the defensive end, especially with blocking shots and timing.  Ferere showed this on multiple occasions throughout the weekend.”

“There were several reasons the Storm entered this event with an undefeated record, but none more significant than Ferere and his nightly production. He’s a big wing prospect with a terrific combination of IQ, skill, and athleticism. Ferere creates well for himself and others, displaying the ability to apply pressure from all levels while actively getting others involved as the primary decision-maker. He attacks the basket and finishes through contact or above the rim, but also effectively knocks down jumpers from midrange and beyond the arc. Ferere is a great rebounder and routinely toggles between multiple positions defensively. It’s definitely surprising that he hasn’t gotten more traction from scholarship-level programs.”
