Phenom Hoops caught up with 2024 Maurio Hanson this past weekend at the Phenom Opening to discuss his season, recruiting update, and expectations for the AAU season. Hanson is a 6'7" forward who played for JL Chambers this past season. After a deep playoff run in states, Hanson is now looking forward to travel ball season and adding to his bag of tricks.

HIGHLIGHTS: KC Shaw Leads Mooresville HS over Hickory Ridge
Phenom Hoops went out once again to check in on the talent around the state. On a Thursday night, we went out to Mooresville as the Blue Devils are off to a great start but were going up against Hickory Ridge and the sophomore duo. It was an intense game and high-pace offensive game, but in the end, Mooresville was able to secure a strong 90-73 victory at home.

Phenom Hoops headed out on a Tuesday night to check on two of the premier programs making noise in the Charlotte area as South Meck welcomed in Ardrey Kell. Great battle with great talent on the court. Bishop Boswell and Peter Moye led the charge for South Meck but was it enough to overcome Brock Rose and Evan Smith? Check it all out!

Word of God and Southern California Academy faced off the in TJ Warrne bracket Championship at the 2021 John Wall Holiday Invitational. So. Cal jumped out to an early lead and never looked back as they defeated Word of God behind Oziyah Sellars 6 3PTs and an MVP performance from MSU commit Jaxon Kohler.

HIGHLIGHTS: UNC commit Tyler Nickel Drops 43/ ’23 Kaiden Swortzel goes for 31 at #CHC22
It was an all-out battle between East Rockingham vs. Floyd Co. at the Chance Harmon Classic, a terrific event to start the year off in Virginia. East Rockingham held the early lead but Floyd Co. came storming back. Nickel hit a game-tying three to send into OT, as we had a thriller all throughout. Check out the full highlights here.

HIGHLIGHTS: Word of God vs Combine Goes DOWN TO THE WIRE at 2021 John Wall Holiday Invitational!
Combine Academy and Word of God faced off in a semi-final matchup at the John Wall Holiday Invitational. With a back and forth game between the two teams, Word of God eventually came away victorious narrowly edging the Goats to advance to the championship game of the TJ Warren bracket.

Moravian Prep and the Ellis brothers faced off vs Dior Johnson and Jaxon Kohler of Southern California Academy in the other semi-final of the TJ Warren bracket. Ryan Roberts couldn't miss for Moravian Prep but it wasnt enough as Dior sealed the game with a game-ending layup for So. Cal to advance to the championship.

Hansel registered 5 blocks in the game despite not scoring much. Angel Montas led Life Christian in overtime past the Jaguars.
