It has been quite a year for reigning Penn South Player of the Year Mastadi Pitt. He is coming off a season at Hampton High School that saw him average just shy of 17 points and 5 boards per game the 6’ rising junior.
It has also been quite a week for Pitt. Last week he announced that he was transferring to Atlantic Shores stating, “It was just a great opportunity to develop that I just couldn’t pass up.” He also picked up his fourth offer, from Longwood, yesterday.
Pitt, who visited Longwood yesterday walked away with an offer on the spot, “This was my second visit after going to UVa as a freshman. I was able to talk to the coaching staff and take a tour around the campus. I really liked it a lot.”
Pitt, who currently has offers from Cincinnati, Howard, UCF, and now Longwood, says there are other schools that are recruiting him hard and he knows what he is looking for at schools, “I am hearing a lot from Creighton, George Mason, Missouri State, St Joe’s, James Madison, Wofford, and Murray State. I am looking for a campus that is comfortable. I want to major in finance, so I will be looking closely into that program. I would also like a nice city surrounding the campus.”
Pitt has been a regular at several Phenom Hoops events over the years, including exposure camps and AAU tournaments. After the 2015 Virginia Top 80, we wrote, “Pitt exudes confidence from the second he walks on the floor. He is a quick point guard with a sturdily built body. We were impressed with Pitt’s ability in both the half and full courts, as he made great decisions in both situations. Pitt’s Camp Coach Ethan Walker stated, “Mastadi is a strong barrel chested point guard, who can score at all three levels. He makes great reads in pick and roll situations and plays great defense, never takes plays off.” If Pitt continues to work hard, his future is very bright, great camp for him.”
Pitt is very aware of what kind of player he is, and what kind of system that he is fits into best, “I am a pass first player, who can score when needed. I am most comfortable in pick and roll situations with a spread type offensive flow.”
Pitt played this summer with Team Loaded Va 2016 team. He is a very sturdy point guard, who has 3-level scoring ability. Not only can he score the ball, but he is a paint getter who can run a team. There is a lot to like with the reigning conference player of the year. Make sure you check out Mastadi Pitt and Atlantic Shores at the Phenom High School Jamboree on November 7.
