Summer after summer, year after year, some players elevate their play and start earning the attention of our scouts here at Phenom Hoops. So far this summer, there have been plenty of prospects taking the next step and showing more of their capabilities. One player that certainly fits in that category has been 2026 forward Onur Kurucu for ACE SD Charlotte.

Kurucu has left a lasting impression all summer long and has gotten better as well as stronger. When talking about his game, he is one who simply understands how to use his frame and body to battle around the paint, finishing strong through defenders, finding ways to get to the line, bullying defenders on the glass, and even capable of stretching the court as well.  He understands where he excels and where he can produce, and Kurucu has consistently done so throughout the entire summer.  Which is why he is a name that should be on the rise here in the Class of 2026 in North Carolina.

What Was Said:

“Continue to like what 2026 Onur Kurucu (Ace SD) brings to the table and should be one to watch in the Class of 2026. Really like how physical and competitive he is, especially around the basket and on the boards.  Has been consistent all summer long.”

“2026 Onur Kurucu is a player I would jot down and check out. Continues to bring so much production and physicality to the court. Strong finisher, engaged, strong on the boards, and gets to the line consistently.”

“Coming into the summer, Kurucu was a newer name on our list but each time we have watched him so far this summer, he consistently brings production to the table for his team. Sturdy, physical frame that he uses well, embraces contact, and remains active.  He uses his body well to gain position down in the paint, finds ways attack the paint, bully his way and get to the line, and just be physical on the boards.  Overall, he has had some very good showings this summer.”
