It seems like every year, there are new names that come about throughout the state of North Carolina. Yes, you may know the top names in each class but players continue to elevate their play and start becoming more of a name throughout the area.

One of those players that would fall into that category this year is 2022 Keyon Webb from Riverside-Durham. The junior guard led the conference in scoring, averaging 21.3 points per game, and was named Tri-8 All-Conference this season.

Webb is a very intriguing prospect to follow. This is a young man that recorded eight games in which he scored over 20 points, shot 44 percent from the floor, and does a terrific job in attacking and getting to the line. But he has shown that he can be a three-level scorer.

Phenom Hoops got a glimpse of Webb earlier in the season, as he put on a great display.  Our own, Patrick O’Brien, had this to say about him after the game.

“Webb was the offensive weapon for Riverside, scoring 25 of the team’s 46 points. He was aggressive on both ends, creating well off the dribble, getting to the line, but also stepping out with his smooth jumper. Webb was able to show that he can get to the rim and finish in traffic.”

The junior prospect is crafty and finds the holes in a defense well, while also getting by his defender to get to the basket.  He picks his spots well and plays with an aggressive mindset but makes smart decisions on the floor.

He has steadily improved from his sophomore year to his junior season and it is going to be interesting to see what he can do this summer and next year as a senior.  But make no mistake about it, he is making his mark in North Carolina.
