Team 9

Coach: Jason Lee

#14: 5’5 ’28 Solansh Cedeno (Williams)

Starting off, Solansh Cedeno is a 5-foot-5 prospect in the Class of 2028. Despite being the smallest camper on this team, she had no issue making her presence felt on both ends of the floor. Cedeno highlighted IQ and confidence when running a team. She consistently touched the paint and saw the floor to set up others at a strong rate, but can also knock down open jumpers as needed. Cedeno is a scrappy defender with a willingness to make hustle plays whenever possible. Next in her development process is working on the use of her off-hand, as it would make her a better finisher. Coach Lee on Cedeno: “Solansh is a good point guard with quick handles and good shooting ability off the dribble. Extremely competitive and coachable. True point guard and natural leader. Cuts with a purpose and displays sharp instincts. Got several backdoor layups.” Cedeno did a lot of things well at camp and should be a key piece for Williams over the coming years.

#18: 5’6 ’28 Cecelia Lambert (Hough)

Next, Cecelia Lambert is a 5-foot-6 prospect in the Class of 2028. Given her high motor and terrific perimeter shooting, it was easy to appreciate the low-maintenance identity she brought to the team. Lambert is a scrappy, unselfish guard who excels as an off-ball threat. She’s a reliable shooter from midrange and beyond the arc, but also understands how to operate within the team structure. Lambert competes hard to make her presence felt defensively and get to her spots in transition. Next in her development process is working on getting stronger, as it would make her a better finisher through contact. Coach Lee on Lambert: “Cecelia is a high-energy player who doesn’t need the ball to make an impact. Showed a lot of promise in catch-and-shoot situations. Knows how to find open seams as a spot-up threat but needs to improve her ability to create and move without the ball.” Lambert enjoyed a solid showing at camp and should be a difference-maker for Hough going forward.

#24: 5’6 ’28 Amara Cashwell (Cannon)

Next, Amara Cashwell is a 5-foot-6 prospect in the Class of 2028. She’s an incredibly quick, dynamic floor general with the vision, penetration sense, and defensive prowess to cause problems for opponents on both ends of the floor. Cashwell has a solid handle but utilizes her sharp first step to touch the paint at a high volume, where she’s able to finish or set up others. She positions herself really well at the point of attack to contain her assignment and force turnovers at a quality rate. Next in her development process is working on her consistency as a perimeter shooter, as it would complement her penetration game nicely. Coach Lee on Cashwell: “Amara is a shifty and crafty ball-handler who defends for the length of the floor. Great at creating off the dribble for herself and others. She’s a tough, gritty defender who can guard the best player on the opposing team.” Cashwell proved to be an asset during camp and should be a quality piece for Cannon over the coming years.

#45: 5’8 ’28 Brelyn Miller (Bal Perazim Christian)

Next, Brelyn Miller is a 5-foot-8 prospect in the Class of 2028. Given her nonstop motor, rugged approach, and physically imposing presence, it didn’t take long to recognize her impact. Miller showed the ability to score or make plays with the ball in her hands as needed, but mainly affected the game without needing a ton of touches. She defended with toughness, controlled the glass, and made hustle plays whenever possible. Miller did the dirty work while filling in the gaps offensively. Next in her development process is working on the use of her off-hand, as it would make her a more complete player. Coach Lee on Miller: “Brelyn is a high-energy player who can guard up and down a lineup. Strong and tough. Plays with physicality. Rebounds her position really well on both ends of the floor. Smart cutter without the ball to find open opportunities. Great in transition and consistently defends for the length of the floor.” Miller found success throughout camp and should be a focal point at Bal Perazim Christian going forward.

#56: 5’9 ’28 Kate Kendrick (South Mecklenburg)

Next, Kate Kendrick is a 5-foot-9 prospect in the Class of 2028. Between her defense, rebounding, and useful blend of skills, she is able to find opportunities on both sides of the ball. Kendrick excels at doing the dirty work, whether battling on the glass or fighting for loose balls, but can alter her approach based on team needs. She showed the ability to move really well without the ball to knock down open jumpers. Kendrick is a tough, physical defender. Next in her development process is working on getting quicker, as it would make her a more dynamic penetrating threat. Coach Lee on Kendrick: “Kate has a strong frame and is great at playing off two feet in the paint. She rebounds the ball extremely well and defends at a high level. She understands the game and knows how to move properly without the ball.” Kendrick made her presence felt throughout camp and should be a key piece for South Meck over the coming years.

#64: 5’10 ’28 Jay Jay Green (North Raleigh Christian)

Next, Jay Jay Green is a 5-foot-10 prospect in the Class of 2028. She’s a highly skilled, well-rounded piece with the size, physicality, and unselfishness to overwhelm opponents in various ways. Green is a knockdown shooter from midrange and beyond the arc, but also attacks closeouts and finishes really well around the basket. She can create or initiate the offense as needed. In addition to her useful offensive game, Green wreaks havoc with her rugged defensive presence. Next in her development process is working on the use of her off-hand, as it would make her a better creator against pressure. Coach Lee on Green: “JJ lit it up from beyond the arc. Easily shooting (and converting) from college range and mixing it up by using her strong body to get and-one opportunities. She plays a tough brand of defense and plays the passing lanes well to force turnovers.” Green made a lasting impression with her play at camp and will be one to watch for North Raleigh Christian going forward.

#76: 6’1 ’28 Finley Sherrill (Lake Norman)

Next, Finley Sherrill is a 6-foot-1 prospect in the Class of 2028. Between her size, skill, and athleticism, she was a versatile matchup problem for opponents. Sherrill finishes around the basket or from the post, spaces the floor at a high percentage, and can set up others quite well. She’s an exceptional rebounder and defender across all positions with the necessary instincts to force turnovers at a quality rate. Next in her development process is working on her consistency as a shooter off the dribble, as it would make her even more difficult for opponents to contain. Coach Lee on Sherrill: “Finley is going to be a great player in North Carolina. Great size with the ability to put the ball on the floor and score from all three levels. She’s a great shot-blocker and can buckle down to guard smaller, faster opponents. She easily beats other bigs off the dribble. Showed the ability to make a lot of plays defensively.” Sherrill stood out as a notable performer at camp and should only continue to emerge as a focal point for Lake Norman this season.

#77: 5’10 ’28 Layla Sims (Northern Durham)

Finishing up, Layla Sims is a 5-foot-10 prospect in the Class of 2028. Polished scorers always seem to stand out in the camp setting, and that certainly feels applicable to Sims. She’s skilled, athletic, and able to consistently generate clean looks with the ball in her hands. Sims gets downhill and touches the paint at will, where she finishes or locates open teammates. Solid midrange shooter and capable threat from beyond the arc. Defends the point of attack with toughness and terrific energy. Next in her development process is working to improve her rebounding presence, as she has the size to make her presence felt on the glass. Coach Lee on Sims: “Layla is a three-level scorer and crafty ball-handler in traffic. She’s a great on-ball defender with quick hands for steals. Finished around the rim really well. Not a great three-point shooter but shouldn’t be left open.” Sims found a lot of success during her time at camp and should be poised for a productive season at Northern Durham.
