It is hard to believe how long it has been since watching Demetric Horton on the high school courts of Garner high school and with WCBA.  But he has really put in the work to get where he is now, as he is now a primary starter at North Carolina A&T.

When you look at his journey after his time in North Carolina at Garner, Horton first played at Cape Fear CC where he averaged 10.5ppg, shot nearly 36 percent from three, and played in 31 games.  He then went on to Independence CC where he shot 43 percent from three on the year and was named second-team All-Region after averaging 15.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 1.7 assists.  Heading then into the 2020-21 season, he found himself at Purdue Fort Wayne, where he played in all 23 games, scored in double-figures 12 times, and averaged 2.9 rebounds.

Now, we find Horton at North Carolina A&T and starting for the Aggies. The 6’5 guard has really put in the work over the years to get where he is today, as he is now posting averages of 12.2 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 2.2 assists while shooting 48 percent from the floor and nearly 40 percent from three.

When speaking with NC A&T Will Jones, he too believes that Horton has a bright future with his program.

“Demetric has the “it” factor,” Coach Jones told Phenom Hoops. “I really enjoy coaching him. If I can do a great job coaching him, there is no telling how far his basketball career can go.”

Many players can learn from the path that Horton has taken and the work he has put in, as he is having an excellent season in helping the Aggies.

What Phenom Hoops Said:

“Horton is a jack-of-all-trades. He’s a blue-collar workhorse that gets the job done on both ends of the court. He has excellent length and athleticism and plays with a high motor. We really feel Horton has a huge upside and could be a surprise player in the 2018 class.” – 2016

“As Horton goes, so will Garner this season. He is the one who is able to go off for 30+ on any given night. Horton has good length & athleticism, but it is his ability to really shoot the ball that sets him apart. He has a quick trigger and a short memory, there will be games this year where he really turns heads with massive scoring totals. He is a scholarship level player, high D2s and LMs should come through and see what they think.” – 2017
