Player: Tito Deng
Class: 2024
School: Carolina Basketball Academy
Height: 7’0

It is always fun as a scout to come across a player that you have heard about, but have never seen in person.  That happened at the Queen City Classic in Charlotte last weekend, when we had a chance to watch Carolina Basketball Academy.  2024 7’0 Tito Deng is a name that we have seen pop up and have talked about, but we got our first live view of the young man and came away impressed.

When talking about his game, you can’t deny his length and size as it immediately stands out but he is a big man that moves quite well for a 7-footer. Deng presents a tough matchup with his ability to move fluidly on the floor, operate inside and out, and his two-way presence. Offensively, Deng did a nice job in showing his touch and keeping the ball high to stay active on the glass; he also surprised us with his handles, his body control and finishing capabilities, and his confidence from the perimeter. Defensively, he certainly makes it tough with his length, as he brings that rim protection immediately as well as a strong presence on the boards.

There is no doubt as to why schools are offering and showing interest… there is a lot to like, and he is still developing overall as a player. Right now, he holds offers from Louisiana Tech, Coastal Carolina, and Jacksonville, but in speaking with Deng, he says he has earned interest from Texas Tech, Seton Hall, West Virginia, and others as well.

Put Deng though on your radar if you haven’t, as he is a player that should see his stock only continue to rise.
