Piedmont Classical and Carmel Christian started off Day 2 on the Arena Court and both teams brought the energy. Piedmont Classical made the first statement in the game, coming out strong with intensity on both ends, getting after it on the offensive end and defensive side to earn the small lead early on. Carmel Christian started to settle down and run their offense though, cutting into the lead and eventually tying it up at 19 at the end of one.

Carmel Christian started to turn the tables in the second quarter, allowing their defense to feed into their offense.  Carmel made Piedmont take tough shots, rush some on offense, and then were able to capitalize on offense in transition or running their offense.  Cade Tyson was the primary scorer for Carmel, helping his team get out to a 39-27 halftime lead.

Second half got underway and Carmel Christian continued to operate and find success on the offensive end, as they were able to build their lead a little heading into the fourth quarter.  But Piedmont Classical continued to push the tempo, stay aggressive on offense, and looked to claw their way back.  They were able to get it in single digits but unfortunately, Carmel was just too much on both ends, helping secure the win on Day 2.

Stats:

Piedmont Classical:

Lamont McNeil 6 points

Standouts:

2021 6’8 Caleb Farrish (Piedmont Classical): Farrish came out strong and ready to battle.  Really captured some eyes with his play, as the 6’8 mobile prospect showed some athleticism in his game, finishing multiple times strong at the rim with a few throw downs but also the ability to step and out create off the dribble.

2022 6’7 Cade Tyson (Carmel Christian): May have been the best overall performance we have seen from the young man, as he not only continued to show his ability to stretch the floor and IQ, but he played with tremendous strength and physical on the court.  He gave us a glimpse of his athleticism in the open floor and battled tough around the rim in this one. Impressive showing.

2021 Ben Burnham (Carmel Christian): Burnham did what Burnham does. It took the first quarter to settle down but once he did and got his game going, it was a show from then on. The blend of athleticism and motor that this young man plays with is tremendous, always getting his hands on the ball, seeing the floor well, and just knowing how to operate on all levels.
