Jalen Spicer, a 2017 guard from Northwest High School, has been hitting the weight room and gym this offseason, as he prepares not only for the upcoming season but to prove he can play at the next level.

Last season, Spicer averaged 12.9 points, 5.0 assists, 2.4 rebounds, and 2.3 steals per game for Northwest, as the rising junior helped his team to a 23-4 overall record.

Now, the pressure will be on for him to produce but from what Phenom Hoops has seen, this talented guard certainly has the talent to do so. Furthermore, Spicer understands that the pressure is on, as he has been hitting the gym every day.

“It’s been a real busy process in teh gym everyday before school and after school, mostly in the weight room as well,” Spicer said.

As far as his recruitment has gone, Spicer holds offers from UNCG and Florida International, while programs such as Charlotte, High Point, and Maryland Eastern Shore have all expressed interest.

“Well, since last year to now, I’ve heard from a lot of schools and the latest school to send me something to me was Charlotte,” Spicer said. “They sent me a picture where they wanted me to put a picture of me in it, it was pretty cool.”

“High Point also came in to see me as well. They have been watching me for a while now and I have to schedule a visit. They said they really like me.”

Maryland Eastern Shore also came by last week to take a look at the guard and he was able to talk to the coaching staff. However, it seems that there are several other schools that could be making their way to Northwest to check out Spicer and his teammates.

Spicer is a very talented prospect and is currently ranked at No. 29 in the 2017 North Carolina rankings, but with his talent and potential, that could certainly change after this season.
