We’ve seen a lot of players come through our doors over the years, varying in appearance, skill level, and everything in between. We decided to put forth a “Getting to Know” series on some players who have attended events but still remain on the lesser-known side of things. Each of these prospects embody being a student-athlete and getting it done in the classroom as well as on the basketball court, and today’s edition will take a closer look at Tyler Showalter of Butler High School.

We’ve seen Showalter in every possible setting, previously stating, “Given his ability to do a little bit of everything, Showalter seems quite likely to be a major piece over these next two seasons for Butler. He’s a long, active, well-rounded wing/forward prospect who understands how to naturally affect all facets of the game whilst operating within his role on both ends of the floor. Showalter is a reliable shooter and scoring threat with the necessary size to cause matchup problems for opponents. He’s also a committed defender and rebounder who willingly adapts to whatever the team needs.” Which was recently followed by, “The BSA Supreme squad is always extremely balanced, and Showalter is a huge part of their overall identity. His steady, unselfish, well-rounded identity allows him to naturally affect all facets of the game. Showalter is a reliable finisher and perimeter shooter who plays hard, pursues rebounds, and provides a quality defensive presence. He consistently shows a willingness to do whatever necessary to provide his team with an edge.”
Going forward, it wouldn’t be outlandish to predict somewhat of a breakout season for Showalter. His unselfish, well-rounded identity won’t necessarily result in thirty or forty-point scoring bursts, but it should allow him to reliably affect all facets of the game on a nightly basis. Showalter can score the ball in a variety of ways and fill it up as needed offensively, but his status as the ultimate teammate simply understands how to defer to others and play within the flow of a team structure. He’s a quality defender and rebounder who utilizes his length well to disrupt opponents on both ends of the floor. Showalter is an efficient scorer from all levels, but also regularly finds opportunities as a cutter and spot-up threat. His glue-guy status should make him a very valuable piece for this group over the next two seasons.
