Each year, we watch high school prospects filter in and out of North Carolina. Some players come to the Hoopstate for increased exposure or opportunities, but several depart for the same reason. More often than not, our “homegrown” talents tend to transfer elsewhere in hopes of developing on a national-level schedule. This is no knock on any program, as it’s simply the nature of the landscape nowadays. We will take a brief look at some of these players, starting with those who are originally from the state…

6’9 ’25 Sadiq White (IMG Academy)

The Syracuse commit has been firmly in the spotlight since his middle school days, and this move feels like the next step in his progression. White is long, fluid, and explosive with the ability to change a game on both ends of the floor. Though he’s made strides as a creator and shooting threat, he still understands how to play to his strengths. White can defend multiple positions, secure rebounds at a high volume, and pose a constant threat in transition. He will be a focal point, but his game should also complement the abundance of highly touted players throughout this roster.

6’5 ’25 Isaiah Henry (Diamond Doves)

Due to an unforeseen coaching change, Henry is set to join Overtime Elite with the Diamond Doves. It’ll certainly be a different dynamic than what we saw at Cannon, but his play style should actually fit somewhat seamlessly. Henry is a strong, physical athlete with great size and the ability to produce in various roles. He’s a capable initiator but finds lots of success as an overall utility piece who can cut, rebound, and defend multiple positions. Henry should be a quality contributor in the fast-paced league.

6’10 ’26 Cody Peck (IMG Academy)

After becoming arguably the hottest prospect over the travel ball season, it was no surprise to see Peck coveted by all types of national programs. He’s an incredibly fluid athlete with the size, explosiveness, and blossoming skillset to be a special talent. Peck has been on this trajectory for quite a while, but it’s clear that he’s in the process of taking the next step in his development. Between his toolkit and everything he’s shown, it feels like Peck is due to blow up even more over the next calendar year.

6’1 ’26 Rassell Young (Huntington Prep)

Rounding out this group, Young should bring a lot to Huntington Prep. He’s a crafty, polished floor general with a strong balance between playmaking and three-level scoring. Young is a quality ball-handler and passer who effectively breaks down opponents, touches the paint, and makes proper reads as a creator. He’s capable of hunting his own shot or generating looks for others. Young is also a capable defender with nice instincts for intercepting passing lanes.
