The Winter Nationals with Phenom Hoops is one of the best events to start the season because we not only kick off the travel ball season in a big way, but we also get a chance to see the future around the country. So many players came through the doors this past weekend and left a lasting impression, as we dive in and break down many of their games.
Looking at a new name that we learned about at the event, 2029 Jhamari Cain from River City Reign consistently played with energy and really forced the action for his team. Every time we watched them in action, Cain was one of the key guys that was bringing value to the court and being assertive with his play. He was at his best when he was dictating the action, creating well off the bounce, attacking and getting inside the defense, finding ways to score around defenders, and also pulling up to knock down tough shots as well. He consistently was a strong playmaker with the ball in his hands, playing at his pace while also being an effective weapon on the defensive side of the ball.
Cain had several of our scouts’ eyes at Winter Nationals, and he will be a name to continue to watch down the road as he develops.
What Was Said:
“2029 Jhamari Cain has been solid using his athleticism to go by and get to the rim. Pressuring on defense, he guards the ball well and makes the offense speed up. He has continued to find ways to attack and finish at the basket.”
“2029 Jhamari Cain (River City Reign) was able to bring tremendous value to the court for his team. Strong playmaker, scoring off the dribble especially, brought value in other areas, and just found ways to produce.”
