Each and every time Phenom Hoop Report gets to report or sees a commitment from a player we have seen over the years, it is always a fantastic day. It is great to see players achieve their goal to play at the next level and it is such a great accomplishment for that player.

Phenom: What made East Carolina the place for you in the end?
Jamison: They have been recruiting me for a while since I was at Louisburg and they offered me when I was at Liberty Heights but before I even got a scholarship offer, they had been contacting me, seeing how I was, and Coach Jackson would always send me clips on things he thought I could get better at. And also, Coach Dooley has a good relationship with me and my mom, since I went on my visit a while back. And also, it’s close to home so my family and friends would be able to come and support.
Phenom: How has your relationship grown over the years with them and how do they see you in their system?
Jamison: Our relationship has grown a lot because I felt like they were talking to me and checking on me when I felt like no coaches really messed with me like that. And I feel myself fitting in great with their system because he runs a guard system to where they run a lot of ball screens and they like to go get out and run, which I feel like I excel at.
Phenom: Got some dudes coming in and all to the program. Have you been able to speak to any of the players there or recruits coming in?
Jamison: I have a good relationship with RJ Felton who has committed there but haven’t got a chance to speak to any of the committed players or players that are already there.
Phenom: Now that you have your decision behind you, what is going to be your focus on this summer and next season?
Jamison: My focus on this summer is winning UAA title with Team Curry and Coach Sims and also winning the Hoop State Championship with Liberty Heights and Coach Wright because we fell short last year. Just want to leave high school with a bang.

“Elijah Jamison had a superb season for Liberty Heights in which he averaged 15 points, 4 rebounds, and 6 assists while shooting 51% from the field and 36% from the behind the arc. He is a strong, explosive, paint touch point guard. He excels getting into the lane. He utilizes his strength well and finishes through contact. He also is able to make really good reads at the end of drives, whether kicking the ball out to shooters or dropping it off to a teammate for the dunk. Throughout the season, Jamison continued to showcase his ability to knock down the perimeter shot. When he is making shots from the perimeter, it makes it that much easier for him to beat defenders off the bounce and make plays in the paint. On the defensive end, he sets the tone for his team.
