Each and every time Phenom Hoop Report gets to report or sees a commitment from a player we have seen over the years, it is always a fantastic day. It is great to see players achieve their goal to play at the next level and it is such a great accomplishment for that player.
Here is the latest commitment.
Player: Braylyn Milton
Class: 2021
Committed to: Cincinnati
What the Player Said:
PHR: What made you pick Cincinnati in the end' What were some factors for you'
Milton: I really enjoyed how in on of my first conversations with the coach, our relationship clicked. I also really liked how pretty the campus was on my virtual visit. And coach sent me a couple of games and I loved their style of play; it fits me very well.
PHR: What are you hoping to bring to the program'
Milton: I’m really hoping to bring in a continuing winning program!
Stats Last Season:
Helping her team finish with an impressive 21-8 season, the junior prospect averaged 18.2 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 3.4 steals, and 1.2 blocks per game at Independence.
Coach Lauren Galvani:
For starters, Braylyn Milton has been a huge factor in taking a high school program that was 25-134 since 2010, to almost double the wins (44) since she’s been at Indy. It takes a loyal and hardworking player to build from the ground up. We have a close relationship on and off the court, which has allowed me to coach her how I want to. She takes a lot of criticism throughout the year, but has always been receptive and coachable.
Braylyn being 5’11 with solid handles, a consistent shot and great court vision, she’s very hard to guard. She has always been smart defensively and understands the ins and outs of how to guard someone. Braylyn has a high IQ and is not only able to produce her own shot, but she’s able to create shots for others. Since her freshman year, she has grown in many areas of the game- improving her jumpshot and being able to consistently go to her left have been a top priority for her, which I think she’s done a great job on. I think Braylyn’s ability to play out on the wing and play point guard will really allow her to get on the floor often at Cincy because they see her being able to do both and their style of play is quick with a lot of interchangeable guards out on the floor.
For this coming season, she’s not only someone we will rely on to score and get stops, but to lead us on and off the court. She’s been a team captain for 3 years, so her teammates have a huge respect for her as a player and person. I’m expecting Braylyn to have another big year for us, which I think will carry over to the college level. I think once she puts on some weight/muscle, she’s going to be on a new level. Cincy is getting an extremely coachable player and a great person. It’s been a pleasure to coach her and I’m glad we have more season to make some noise.
