Phenom Winter Nationals once again delivered a high-level stage for high school talent to make a statement, and several prospects took full advantage of the opportunity. From emerging under-the-radar players to established names elevating their stock, the weekend was filled with breakout performances that demanded attention. In this breakdown, we highlight the high school prospects who separated themselves with their production, consistency, and long-term upside—names you need to know as the season and recruiting landscape continue to unfold.

2028 Nyshawn Hughes (Carolina Culture)

Hughes has had a strong season, and it was good to see him back to start the summer, as he really showcased his development in helping lead his team.  Hughes has a big frame, looks stronger, and is an assertive presence on the court on either side. He brings solid versatility to the floor, being able to play and guard multiple positions on the court.  Offensively, he attacked well downhill off the bounce, as well as being an option on the glass as well. Look for Hughes to have an eye-opening summer this year.

2029 Nazir Quick (ABM All-Stars)

ABM was a new team that brought some interesting talent to the floor. One of those players who grabbed my attention was Nazir Quick, a prospect who brought length and athleticism to the court for his team.  Time after time, he was able to get out in transition and attack the basket, excelling out in the open floor and presenting problems with his size. He did a great job as an impact player at several positions for his team, and I’m eager to see how he develops further.

2029 Alseny Keita (ABM All-Stars)

Another player that you couldn’t help but notice was 2029 6’6 Alseny Keita. He brings a strong frame and a physical presence to the court, playing with energy around the basket. Keita uses his size and strong frame to his advantage, helping him bring strong activity on the glass, around the basket, and also being a presence on the defensive end. Keita is a new name to jot down and watch as he develops.

2028 Obama Madut (Carolina Culture)

Madut is a long, fluid athlete who immediately grabs your attention with his activity and bounce. He shows excellent second and third jumps, allowing him to impact the glass and alter shots at a high rate. With his length, mobility, and defensive presence, Madut brings undeniable upside—and as he continues to add strength and game reps, his overall impact should only continue to rise.

2029 Sylva Okauru (St. Christopher)

Okauru is a developing big with the tools to become a noteworthy prospect in his class. He offers tremendous length, polished footwork, and soft touch around the basket, allowing him to be a reliable interior presence. Okauru does a strong job of carving out position on the block and finishing through contact, showing the foundation of a productive and impactful frontcourt option with long-term upside.
