2024 Tre Johnson is coming off an impressive summer with Team Griffin, ultimately finishing it off at the Peach Jam. He racked up some impressive offers, several of which from the Big-12 and SEC. His latest one came from the national champs Baylor Bears, a school that has impressed him early on and also has some family ties.

Phenom spoke to Johnson to learn the latest about how his summer has gone and his thoughts on the Bears, as well as his visit and interests coming his way.

Phenom: Wanted to ask how the summer has been going with Team Griffin and all' It has been a big summer for sure.
Johnson: It’s been going well with Team Griffin. I enjoy playing with them. We did well at the Peach Jam but not like we wanted to. Recruiting-wise, it has been good.

Phenom: What do you believe that you have shown with your game more this summer'
Johnson: I’ve shown I can guard 1-4 and that I can score off the dribble as well as I can catch and shoot and that when my jump shot isn’t falling, I can still be effective and find other ways to score.

Phenom: What was it like to play down at the Peach Jam' Had to be off the charts.
Johnson: It was off the charts, fun playing against the best competition in the world.

Phenom: As far as recruitment, you got a big offer from Baylor.  What was the moment like for you and your thoughts overall'
Johnson: It was an honor and a huge blessing to get an offer from the team my dad (Richard Johnson who played from ’95-’97) played for and the NCAA champions.  They offered me while I was on my first unofficial visit.

Phenom: How was the visit' What all did you get to do and see'
Johnson: The visit was great, they showed me the campus and then they showed me the basketball facilities. Coach Drew had a presentation set up for me, then we had a photoshoot, then watched film and I met the whole staff and introduced myself.

Phenom: That had to be awesome.  What is it like to get an offer from the school where your father played'
Johnson: It is a blessing.

Phenom: What did they have to say when they offered' What do they like about your game and all and how you might fit'
Johnson: When they offered me, they were talking to me about how they are the number one team in Texas and it’s close to home.  The coaching staff hasn’t changed for a long time and the way they play basketball as a team also.  They said they like how I score the ball and how I communicate with my teammates and they give their guards freedom, so I could fit in well because I can create for myself.

Phenom: You have racked up some impressive offers as well, several of which from the Texas area among others.  What was it like to pick up those offers early on'
Johnson: It’s motivating, it makes me want to work harder to get more offers and to continue to show what I can do in front of college coaches.

Phenom: Do you have any other schools that you would like to visit'
Johnson: I don’t have any schools set up right now.

Phenom: What other schools have been showing interest as well your way'
Johnson: Houston, Ole Miss, and UCLA
