Player: RJ Moore
Class: 2027
Height: 6’7
School: Ambassador Christian

2027 6’7 RJ Moore has proven to be one of the elite talents in the state of North Carolina, and his recruitment continues to trend upward. More and more schools are noticing the skillset and potential with this 3-level scorer, including a big in-state program that recently stopped by. UNC’s Coach Lebo stopped in recently to check out the 2027 prospect, as the Tar Heels could be one of the next programs to recruit more.

Moore has been on the Phenom Hoops platform on so many occasions, as we have talked plenty about his game.  Below is what we had to say early on with his game and potential:

“This is a prospect that plays with a ton of confidence and simply has factors in his game that you can’t teach. Moore wants the ball in his hands and isn’t afraid of the bright lights, proving to be an effective scoring option from all levels of the court. He has unlimited range and a ton of confidence with his shot, he is such an effective scorer in catch-and-shoot situations or off the dribble and can be a tough matchup with his length. And he is one that should only get better as he gets bigger and stronger, as well as add more to his game. But from what we have seen with Moore and his potential, he has a chance to be regarded as one of the best prospects in the state and find a national ranking from many in the coming years.”

We also had this to say about his game just a few weeks ago at the Carmel MLK: “Moore is the one who can really set the tone for this team, as he came out strong in the first half with his scoring ability. Quickly showcased his ability to score from all levels on the court comfortably. Whether he is moving without the ball and hunting for his shot from outside, creating space and looking for his mid-range jumper, or using his length to finish high at the rim, Moore proved once again how easy of a three-level scorer he can be with deep range.”

His recruitment continues to trend in the right direction, as more schools are coming his way and expressing interest.  North Carolina is the latest school to stop by, while Duke expressed interest earlier.  Could the Tar Heels, though, firmly enter the picture for this in-state prospect? We talked to Moore about what was said and his interest.

Recruitment Update

Phenom: We saw that North Carolina stopped in today to check you out?

Moore: Yes sir, they also saw me at the John Wall Invitational as well. Coach Lebo came by and watched me.

Phenom: What did they have to say your way?

Moore: He said that I was a really good player and that my ceiling was very high. They are going to try and get me to a game as well as follow me more this summer.

Phenom: Did they mention what kind of interest they had in you and do you think you will visit?

Moore: They said they have a strong interest and that they really want to get me up for a visit. But right now, there are no visits until the end of spring.

Phenom: With them entering the picture, what kind of interest might you have?

Moore: I have a high interest in them, but at the end of the day, it is always going to be just the best position for me when it comes to schools.

Moore already has several offers from around the country, and other schools are showing interest in him. Schools like St. John’s, Alabama, and Michigan are a few other schools that have expressed interest in him, while schools like Utah, Florida State, Georgia Tech, ECU, Georgetown, and Tennessee have been staying strong.
