This upcoming weekend, Phenom Hoops will travel down to Hopewell High School for Underrated Athletes’ second annual The Well Invitational. The event will feature a four-game slate with the first contest starting at 12:00 and final showdown beginning at 4:30. Between West Meck, Corvian Community, Victory Christian, Westminster Catawba, Harding University, West Charlotte, and Ambassador Christian, there’s certainly an entertaining collection of teams. We will preview each game, starting with the headlining matchup between West Charlotte and Ambassador Christian…

Given the talent on both sides, this is an obvious early contender for game of the event. Winners in eight of their last nine games, Ambassador Christian continues to improve with each contest. RJ Moore will receive a ton of attention as their focal point, and rightfully so, as he’s capable of taking over a game with no hesitation. However, this rotation is filled with next-level pieces. Judah King is a tough, unselfish, well-rounded guard who initiates the offense, sets up others, and outworks opponents on both ends of the floor. Jeremiah Franklin is a big, strong, versatile wing who can defend multiple positions, rebound his position, and operate in various different roles offensively. Tyler Brown anchors the paint as a long, wiry, bouncy big man who blocks shots and controls the glass. Nick Haney offers a nice change of pace and understands how to fill in the gaps as needed.

On the other side, West Charlotte hasn’t really wavered from its status as a top public-school team in North Carolina. Kaharri Coleman has continued to turn heads as a national-level prospect with his incredibly dynamic, explosive game. Chacho Womack is solidifying himself as one of the top scorers in the country. AC Pressley shines as a major x-factor who can consistently alter his approach based on team needs. Jakhi Wade plays bigger than his size as a strong, physical interior piece. Major Cross is a pesky, high-motor defender who can hit shots as needed. Adding Janon Singh to this roster takes them to another level, as he possesses legit size and interior ability. Ultimately, this should be a must-see contest for all types of fans and college coaches.
