Player: Hakeem Weems
Class: 2026

School: IMG Academy

Sometimes schools and people around the basketball landscape need a friendly reminder… Over the summer, Phenom Hoops had a chance to watch a big-time prospect in 2026 6’10 Hakeem Weems at the Seros Invitational. At the event, our scouts had this to say about his game:

“Weems was one we were eager to watch, as the 6’10 prospect has a lot of factors that you have to like about his game. He brings fluidity, skill, length, and versatility to the court with his play, showing that he can score inside, attack and create off the bounce, step out along the perimeter and be a threat, and be able to guard/operate from multiple positions on the court. He has a natural athleticism with his frame that allows him to comfortably impact the game from multiple positions and areas. And with what he showed at the event, I believe many other schools will start getting involved this summer.”

He later made news about heading to IMG Academy Post Grad, where he has been able to thrive and develop, better preparing himself for the next level.

“It has been going well,” Weems told Phenom Hoops. “I’ve been developing, getting stronger, and gaining weight.  I’ve also been looking to improve my range, being able to stretch the floor more, tighten up my ball-handling, and focus more on rebounding as well.”

In a few early events this season for IMG, Weems has been able to thrive as a scorer and rebounder, continuing to show what we saw this summer with his fluidity, ability to score in a variety of ways, create off the bounce, and attack the glass with his bounce. Again, standing at 6’10, Weems offers a lot to go along with potential, which is why college programs are still staying strong his way.

In speaking with Weems, schools like Florida State, Seton Hall, San Jose State, James Madison, and UAB have been consistently recruiting him.

When we asked what he believes he could offer a future program? “My ability to stretch the floor, shoot it, defend at a high level, and bring energy.”

With what he has shown to start the season, Weems should be a priority for more schools in the Class of 2026 and we are here to remind everyone.
