Over the summer, Phenom Hoops introduced and really dived into more with an intriguing talent. 2026 6’10 Rho Omed played with the Academy Prep earlier this year, and it was Phenom Hoops that said he was one of the more underrated prospects in the country. It seems that college programs finally started to take notice of the potential and intrigue with his game, as he has added multiple D1 offers over the months.
After his performance on the Phenom Hoops platform, Patrick O’Brien had this to say:
“Another player on The Academy Prep, who won the Silver Bracket, grabbed my attention, and I see the potential in his overall game is 6’9 Rho Omed. I had heard about him and was eager to see him, and from what I saw, there is a lot to like early on, but the question is what he could ultimately be with more work. Omed has an incredible blend of size and skill, being a more than capable prospect from the perimeter and showing his ability to be a shotmaker. He has range in his game, he flourishes in dribble pull-ups, and he still presents issues with his 6’9 frame. But there are still several areas where he could work on, which makes him even more interesting to watch.”
Since then, Omed has been catching the eyes of many and earning more attention. Not only will he be heading to Spire Academy, but he also received offers from California, Hampton, Arkansas, State, and Eastern Michigan.
We caught up with Omed on the latest, seeing which schools have been making a strong push his way. Check out what he had to say.
Phenom: Eastern Michigan was your latest offer. What did they have to say when they offered'
Omed: They had told me they were impressed with me after our practice the other week. They told me I was finishing around the basket well and how I can become a good offensive rebounder. Also, they like my skillset with my ability to shoot and handle the ball; they can complement my game. We had a more in-depth talk the next day about my journey up to this point. Then I talked to Coach Heath who made it official and offered it to me.

Phenom: What other schools have been recruiting you'
Omed: I’ve heard from Marshall, FAU, Purdue Fort Wayne, UAB, and Akron most recently. And I had an official visit to Arkansas State this past weekend.
Phenom: How was that visit to Arkansas State' What did you like about it'
Omed: The visit was great. I loved the vibe of Jonesboro. It seems to have a lot of great people. The coaches were great as well, super positive and energetic during practice.
Phenom: Do you have a timeline of when you may want to decide'
Omed: Not sure yet, probably not too far past this upcoming season.
