Player: Dacen Petty
Class: 2026
School: Christ School
AAU: Upward Stars

Plenty of players have looked strong and made a name for themselves late, and 2026 Dacen Petty could be a sneaky prospect to watch this summer after a strong high school season. Petty, a 6’5 prospect that has continued to elevate his play over the last year at Christ School, is a true positive piece that brought a ton of value to the court. We had this to say earlier in the year about Petty:

“2026 Dacen Petty was a player that some may not have known before the season, but he proved his worth for Christ School, helping earn yet another state championship. Petty was a key piece throughout the season, impacting the game in so many ways, showing a strong understanding of how to operate within the offense, and coming up big in key situations. He was a key scoring factor on the court, not only opening up the offense with his three-point shooting at 45 percent on the season but also being a difference-maker in creating for himself and others. And that doesn’t mention his scrappy play on the defensive end, creating havoc and steals to lead to easy buckets on the offensive end.”

Now, we enter travel ball season, and Petty has suited up to start the season for Upward Stars. Watching him at the Phenom Challenge, Petty continues to bring tremendous value to the court without being the focal point. He does a great job in being a consistent scorer, playing well off the ball to knock down shots, creating and being a playmaker/scorer for himself and others, and plays with a strong overall feel. Petty has consistently shown that he brings production to the table but also plays within what the team needs, whether it is scoring, facilitating, making good decisions, and bringing true value to the table.

We caught up with Petty to see what schools have been showing interest in his way, as Petty mentioned that Stanford, Virginia Tech, and Western Carolina have all expressed some interest. Continuing our talk, Western Carolina has been the strongest with him, as they continue to talk consistently and Petty will be taking a visit to the program.

Petty will be a very interesting prospect to watch this season as his stock continues to rise.
