Summer ball is what can change the lives of many prospects; some prospects continue to shine and prove themselves on the big stage, but it is also a chance for late bloomers to shine and pop off. We may have our first player that fits that bill, as 2026 6’7 Trevor Manhertz has made some early noise and has been seeing his stock rise.

We recently wrote about the latest going on after earning his first D1 offer from Boston University. And we got a great view this past weekend at the Phenom Seros Open, which included an impressive 38-point performance vs. Game Elite. Many have compared him with Trey Murphy, another prospect who came through North Carolina and was a bit of a late bloomer. You can see a lot of similar trends with both of them: lengthy prospects with size, shot-making ability from deep, and late bloomers. Manhertz is a highly intriguing prospect with his 6’7 and shotmaking ability, making it look effortless at times with his range and ability to rise up over defenders or get to his spots well. But you can see that he is continuing to add more to his overall feel, making plays off the bounce, gaining more confidence in his offensive capabilities, and getting stronger as a player. But again, I believe he is far from a finished product, as he should only develop more at the next level.

When you look at the rankings in the Class of 2026 here in North Carolina, Manhertz’s potential and overall game could have him trending as a Top 10 prospect for his class in NC. Full expect him, though, to have a lot of eyes on him this summer and see his recruitment take off.

What Has Been Said:

“Manhertz may have been the breakout player of the event with what he showed; we have been waiting for this young man and he has now arrived, as we could see the potential in his game, but everything had to come together. Well, we have arrived at that point, as Manhertz clearly put himself with some of the best in his class. Great length and size at 6’7, has big-time shot making from deep with a fluid/ effortless release, and you can see his confidence growing by the day with his ability to score in other ways. Manhertz did a great job creating, being a huge threat from deep, and making high IQ plays, and we believe he still has room for even more growth.”

“Manhertz continues to shine as a high-motor wing who brings toughness and energy to the floor. He plays through contact, rebounds well on both ends, knocks down shots at a high percentage, and finishes efficiently around the basket. His defensive versatility, being able to switch onto guards and still protect the paint—is what gives him real value. Manhertz doesn’t need plays run for him to make an impact, he finds his shots within the game, which is the kind of role player every winning team needs. He’s built for the next level.”
